I wrote a short poem from one of my characters' perspectives. The character actually ended up being based on three things. First was S5:E12 of iZombie where Blaine says he also had hoped to be a good guy. The second was the conversation I had with Zak about the episode. And third, the song Believe by Hollywood Undead.

Only once I’ve been close to atonement,
When I was with her.
And still,
In the end
I betrayed her.
I’d so hoped I’d end up the good guy
The one who wins,
Who celebrates,
Who saves,
And yet we can’t fight nature
Or was it nurture?
I guess it doesn’t really matter
Now she’s gone,
So are the rest of them.
With nothing left to cleanse my soul,
I wait.
